Katherine Heigl is open about being raised within "a the white bubble." She also shares how this experience has affected the parenting style of her adopted children who are multi-racial. She revealed in an interview recent interview that, when it comes to the color of her skin, it doesn't really matter. But after speaking to her sister, who was adopted in South Korea she realized just how differently society treats people of different races. "I inquired of my sister, Meg to tell me if she'd been treated one way when she was going out with us parents, and another way when she was out on her own without anyone else. Meg replied "Oh sure! Every time!" That made me realize that I was so ignorant," Heigl said to her parents. The actor said she became frustrated, but decided to channel her anger to help her adopted daughters. Heigl is engaged to Josh Kelley for 13 years they have a son Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr. In 2009, they welcomed Nancy Leigh (12), one of their daughters of South Korea, and Adalaide (8, a black child) in 2012.
