Laura Linney is an American actress who is popular for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested with theatre in holidays by her famous father. She studied acting at Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career after her graduation after which she made her debut on television the following year. Since then, she's appeared in numerous TV productions, films and stage plays. Her nominations include three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her professional career. In spite of the array of awards acting has been her primary passion and she is still appearing on stage and screen.
