Thunberg took a the necessary action in August the year 2018. She walked out of the school, held up a sign with the words "School Strike For Climate", and sat quietly outside of Sweden's Parliament. The idea was to attract the attention of the politicians and motivate them to act to prevent the global warming. Swedish media captured Thunbergs strike and news of her strike spread. Afterward, thousands of other students embraced the movement #FridaysforFuture. They skipped school every Friday to demonstrate against the effects of climate change. Climate campaigners from around the globe coordinated the first Global Strike for Climate in 2019. It was a massive success with over 1.6 million people from more than 125 nations took part.
